KINGS MOUNTAIN, NC (AP) -- Authorities accuse a 36-year-old
North Carolina man of robbing the same truck stop at gun point
twice within three weeks.
The Gaston Gazette reports that Michael Ben Self of Gastonia
is charged with two counts of armed robbery
with a dangerous weapon and two counts of larceny. He is accused of
walking into the AmBest travel center in Kings Mountain, pointing a
gun at the clerk and demanding money on July 22 and Aug. 9.
Investigators say video surveillance showed the man in both
robberies had similar characteristics.
Self was being held in jail in Cherokee County, S.C., on a
charge of failure to stop for a blue light. He will be extradited
to Cleveland County to face the robbery charges.
It was unclear if Self had an attorney.
