WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Kids around the Cape Fear got to have a little more fun before school starts this week
"We're building robots," Lego Camper Dylan Hedgepeth said. "We program them, and then make them move and try not to make them run over the mini figure."
Although Christmas is still a few months away campers at Lego Camp at Airlie Gardens are getting to make and program train cars will be seen by thousands of visitors during Enchanted Airlie.
Not only are Legos recyclable, but now a whole new generation can enjoy the 80-year-old toy.
"We're creating an environment where the kids and campers can build their own Legos," Airlie Environmental Education Manager Matt Collogan said. "Today we're focusing on robots and actually doing some computer programming, and tomorrow we'll be building train cars that will be featured in our Enchanted Airlie display which fills up this entire room with the Lego train setup."
Collogan says Airlie hopes to expand the program in the future.
