RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- A popular watering hole for a generation of
North Carolina State University students is being torn down and
will be replaced by a 125-room hotel across the street from the
school's Bell Tower.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Wednesday
that university officials have chosen
developers to build on land it owns on Raleigh's Hillsborough
Street, the primary public face of the school.
The site is now home to Sadlack's Heroes, which has been around
for more than 30 years.
The project is the latest flurry of redevelopment activity along
the street, which had a $10 million road makeover last year. The
popular music venue The Brewery was demolished this month to make
way for a drugstore, a parking deck and apartments.
