I just paid my property taxes last week. What do I get? I pay extra for trash pick-up. The mosquito truck hasn't visited my truck this year. The mower hasn't mulched the litter on the side of the street; the grass stands tall. You pay 911 whether you call them or not, if you pay a phone bill. Call an ambulance, or a fire truck, and you pay. I just reported a vicious dog, but had to do 100% of the leg work myself. No one patrols or answers calls for things like that. Our streets are more like potholes with a little pavement holding them together. I suppose we get police service, and hopefully we don't ever have a need, or the need goes unnoticed because the deputies are doing their job. So seriously...what do we get for our tax dollars? Not water. Not sewer. No street lights. No sidewalks. It seems to me we pay a precious lot for absolutely nothing except high-priced, laughing stock commissioners.
