I have never met Mr. Berger and I don't live in New Hanover County so I don't have a dog in the fight that is his life or the county's affairs. What I do know is the pain and darkness that is depression, which is clearly evident in Mr. Berger based on this incident. Unless you've been there you cannot begin to understand how lonely and miserable depression can be. You can't know the frustration of not being able to get rid of the pain. Whether or not you support Mr. Berger as a county leader, you should support him as a human being and show a little compassion.
