DMV hopes to open 2nd agency in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, NC (AP) -- The North Carolina Division of Motor
Vehicles is looking for a contractor to operate a license plate
agency in Greensboro, where one was closed over allegations of
criminal activity.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported that the DMV is accepting
applications to manage a second license
plate agency. The agency closed one office Sept. 9 after arresting
the manager and an employee on a total of nine felony charges of
notary fraud.

Greensboro drivers currently have only one office where they can
renew their license plates or register vehicles in person.

State DMV spokeswoman Marge Howell did not say when the new
office would open other than the process takes at least two to
three months. Applications are due by Oct. 14.
