LELAND, NC (WWAY) - After a week of controversy involving a former officer shot in between the legs with training ammunition and revelations that he punched another officer during a bachelor party, Leland Police Chief Tim Jayne canceled his neighborhood walkabout scheduled for tonight.

He sent the following email to the media this afternoon:

"We have contacted the neighborhood leaders in Westport and Mallory Creek and informed them that the Walk tonight has been cancelled. We hope to reschedule this event in the near future."
