Duke establishes faculty council on China campus

DURHAM, NC (AP) -- Duke University has established a special
faculty council and taken other steps to alleviate concerns about
the school's construction of a new campus in China.

The Herald-Sun of Durham reported that
law school professor Paul Haagen is chair of the newly created
China Faculty Council. Faculty members have complained that Duke's
administration didn't consult them enough about plans to build a
campus in China.

The council will bring together Duke scholars with expertise and
experience in China and the region to advise the provost and
Academic Council on program opportunities at Duke-Kunshan
University and elsewhere in China.

Initially, the campus will host some programs developed by
Duke's Fuqua School of Business and some global health programs.
