Hurricanes lift Babchuk suspension

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) _ The Carolina Hurricanes have lifted the suspension of defenseman Anton Babchuk, who will report to the team's top minor-league affiliate.

The Hurricanes suspended Babchuk after he initially refused to report to Albany last Wednesday.

The suspension came the day after Babchuk was sent down and the Hurricanes activated defenseman Frantisek Kaberle from the non-roster injured list.

At the time, Carolina general manager Jim Rutherford said Babchuk needed a few days to think about the assignment. Rutherford said the suspension would last until Babchuk made a decision.

Babchuk had two goals and 12 assists in 51 games with the Hurricanes.
