WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) -- The Wilmington Sharks summer league baseball team has reached an agreement with the city of Wilmington. Sharks general manager Andrew Aguilar explains, "To be able to come out here and announce that we've signed a new five year lease with the option of five more years after that puts comfort in people's minds that we're going to be around."

Wilmington mayor Bill Saffo admits the agreement took a fair amount of time to reach. "It took some time, but obviously when you have a municipal stadium and public property there are all types of concerns that go into it. It's a great feeling though. It's America. It's mom and apple pie and baseball. What else can you say?"

Chris Youngberg served as the Sharks head coach in 2011, but Youngberg will not be returning next season. Ryan McCleney will be the new skipper in 2012. McCleney was a Sharks assistant coach this past summer. He's also an assistant baseball coach at UNC Pembroke. McCleney told WWAY that "We've got a great nucleus coming back and I'm really looking forward to it. We should have a good team with the kids that are coming back and the kids that we've signed already."

We've been told four everyday starters will be coming back next summer: Jake Mayers, Justin Carter, Alex Freedman and Aaron Preston. Summer league action will crank back up in May of 2012.
