GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) -- Honda Aircraft Co. is building a $20
million maintenance and repair center in North Carolina for a light
business jet expected to start rolling off nearby production lines
The company did not specify Monday how many workers would be
hired for its HondaJet repair center in Greensboro. The company
also is considering the area for a parts warehouse and for
production of components such as wings and doors. About 420 jobs
could result if Honda adds those operations to the maintenance
center announced Monday.
Honda's existing Greensboro jet factory employs about 600 and
expects to add up to 300 more as it reaches full production.
The two-engine HondaJets were originally scheduled for delivery
in 2010, but that has been postponed until next year.
