CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) – Carolina Beach Lake went to the dogs on Saturday for the second annual Salty Paws Festival. Hundreds of people and their four legged friends made their way to the fundraiser to support the nonprofit organization Saving Animals During Disasters.
The lake was lined with vendors from across the state and dogs of all shapes and sizes. Chuck and Tracy Smith are visiting the area and decided taking advantage of the fall weather with their two dogs was the best decision for their weekend. They say they were excited to find out that they could do something fun with their dogs.
“We wish they had something like this at home,” Chuck said. “It’s a beautiful day. I’ve seen a million different kinds of dogs. It’s so cool to see people with their pets.”
All the funds collected from the event will go toward benefiting Saving Animals During Disasters and animal rescue.
