When the Hwy 133 fire dept opened its doors in early 2008, it was during the unforseen end of the building boom. Had the economy stayed strong and building continued, there would not be a question of if that fire station is needed. Leland's population (13,000+) requires a second fire station. Unfortunately, the money to man the station is not there...right now.
I don't see where this story is newsworthy. It's not like they just built the station within the past few months. Then it would be questionable.
WWAY, please stay on your side of the river and quit creating negative stories of our town and other surrounding communities. Why don't you report about the money wasted on the new convention center instead.
