Jay Ross signs contract with Buffalo Bills

WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington resident Jay Ross flew to Buffalo on Thursday night in order to work out for the Buffalo Bills on Friday morning. Shortly after the workout the Bills signed the former New Hanover Wildcat to their practice squad.

Defensive tackle Jay Ross was released by the Green Bay Packers prior to the start of the 2011 NFL regular season. The former New Hanover Wildcat worked out for three pro teams prior to his workout with Buffalo today.
Tampa Bay, Miami and Oakland all worked out Ross, but none of those teams elected to sign him.

Ross played college football at East Carolina. The Wilmington resident spent the majority of the 2010 NFL season as a member of the practice squad for the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of the New Orleans Saints prior to his tenure with Green Bay.

Buffalo currently sports a 4-2 record. The Bills next game will be October 30th at home against the Washington Redskins.
