D.J. Mason commits to Campbell Camels

CLARKTON,NC (WWAY) -- West Bladen senior D.J. Mason has verbally committed to play basketball next season at Campbell University as we first reported on WWAY on Friday night. Mason averaged over 20 points per game for West Bladen. He was the Knights leading rebounder as well. West Bladen reached the 2-A Eastern Regional semi-finals last season before losing by 2 points to eventual state-runner-up Pittsboro Northwood under head coach Ken Cross. Travis Pait is entering his first season as the West Bladen head boys basketball coach. Ken Cross is now the head coach at arch-rival East Bladen.

Mason is a 6-5 versatile forward from Clarkton. Mason played on the Wilmington based Flight 22 Blizzard Athletics AAU basketball team this past summer. UNCW graduate Nathan Faulk is the head coach of Flight 22.
