Wilmington trick-or-treaters somewhat affected by weather

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)-- Families of trick-or-treaters ran between the raindrops Monday night enjoying all the sights and sounds of Halloween.

Despite the questionable weather those in costume hit the sidewalks of Wrightsville Beach in search of candy and even a few scares. Some planned on coming out rain or shine.

"Thankfully no rain but we were prepared either way," said parent Jonathan Stewart."We had ponchos and umbrellas. We are really grateful there is no rain."

"I was still going to come out even if it was raining but I really didn't want it to rain because then it would not be as fun," said Maddie Shockley, a trick-or-treater.

For those families who did not want to take the chance with the rain they moved their celebration indoors.

The Halloween event at the Independence Mall had about 1,000 kids in costume last year and Monday's results seemed to be much the same.
