This is true across the board, in private businesses as well as government workers.
I work for a small company that has laid-off 15% of their workers, so the remaining employees have a higher work-load. We've received only token raises the last 3 years, and had our health care coverage cut dramatically in the form of high co-pays, higher deductibles, and a cut in the % of costs that are paid by insurance after we've met the deductible.
The poor economy affects everyone, including government workers. Why should government workers be exempt from the pains affecting the population in general?
