At least you received a raise, even if it was a "token". City workers received

We've gone from over 1,100 employees down to around 800, an almost 30% decrease of employees. There are some employees working full time for the city who are drawing food stamps.

I realize the economy is affecting everyone, but they're not expected to pick up people's trash, or work on their flooding issues, or respond to fires and crimes with less than the people they need, and then get yelled and cursed at because they're not able to do it all.

City workers are always underappreciated for the jobs we do. We don't expect to be exempt from "the pains affecting the population in general", but we do expect to be able to voice our frustrations about it from time to time.
