Suggestion: If indeed you are peaceful, why not politely move to one side of the sidewalk when someone that is not part of your group is trying to get by? Not too much to ask , is it? You might just gain some support for you effort if you did that. People generally move to opposite sides of the sidewalk when walking anyway as a courtesy. Just a thought.
