I am so thankful that you are bringing this into the spotlight. I have lived in Leland for many years. I have been watching this situation "come to a head". I am absolutly apalled at the conduct of several officers and the clique that runs this town. Losing good officers, like Foss and Lewis, in this way is ridiculous. Officer Lewis was very respected and liked by the the teens in this area. It isn't easy for the police to develop that kind of relationship with teenagers, and I haven't seen any officers step up to try and do that since Lewis left. Believe me, I would know. I am a parent of an "at risk" youth. Officers say they'll do one thing and then do another, or they forget that the child exists. It's sad. I hope they get it together soon, before we all lose trust and respect in the Leland Police Dept. And "our" Town Counsel.
