Family gets help after losing home to fire, 911 problem

READ MORE:

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A Columbus County family lost their home to a fire last week after they say they got no response from 911. The Smiths are living with family while they try to sort everything out, and donations are beginning to come in.

The Pleasant Plains Baptist Church near Whiteville is accepting donations of all forms for Brian, Amy and their newborn son Logan.

The church's pastor says they have already collected some cash donations for the family.

"Brian and Amy have been such sweet people and have been a good part of the church, even though for a short period of time," Pastor David Heller said. "When this happened (the church) jumped right in and did whatever needed to be done and have been able to give them a head start and are going to continue to keep helping until they are able to get back in their own home and get settled in."

Brian and Amy say they are very appreciative of the donations.

If you would like to help the Smith family and their new baby boy, the church can be reached at (910) 642-3939. Brian is a 36/30, wears a large or extra-large top and a 10 1/2 shoe. Amy is between a 12 and 14 in pants size and wears a large or extra large top. She is an 8 1/2 shoe.
