Bobcats and Spurs dealSAN ANTONIO (AP) -- The San Antonio Spurs have traded forward Eric Williams and a draft pick to the Charlotte Bobcats for forward-center Melvin Ely in an exchange of veteran backups. The Spurs say that the draft pick is a second-round selection in 2009. The six-foot-ten Ely, who asked in late December to be traded, has averaged two-point-nine points and one-point-six rebounds in 24 games for Charlotte this season. Ely is in his fifth NBA season. The six-foot-eight Williams has averaged two-point-six points in 16 games in this his 12th season in the league. The Bobcats are Williams' seventh N-B-A team, and his sixth in four seasons.
