So you don't want people to show an ID to vote but you are ok with them showing one to apply for food stamps, housing, medicaid and all the other "free" tax funded programs? They all have ID's to show then and don't seem to have a problem with it, so how is it any different to show one to vote?
The problem is the process is broken and it desperately needs to be fixed.
