Berger charged for driving with revoked license

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- New Hanover County Commissioner Brian Berger is in trouble with the law once again. Wilmington Police charged Berger for driving with a revoked license, which is a misdemeanor.

Police say the charge came after a motorcycle officer pulled Berger over today for speeding in the 4800 block of Waltmoore Road. Police say Berger was going 43 mph in a 25 mph zone.

WPD spokeswoman Lucy Crockett said because of the revoked license, Berger was not allowed to drive away from the traffic stop.

There's no word why Berger's license had been revoked.

Berger is scheduled to be in court twice next week. Monday he is scheduled to appear on an alleged violation of a domestic violence protective order filed by his ex-girlfriend Heather Blaylock. Jan. 12 he is on the docket for a hearing regarding his arrest back in June, when he was charged with simple assault and injury to personal property against Blaylock. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss the assault charge in July, when Berger received a prayer for judgement continued on the assault to personal property.

Berger has not yet responded to our request for comment.
