GREENSBORO, NC (AP) -- Guilford County Sheriff B.J. Barnes says an extensive investigation has been unable to determine a clear motive in a shooting rampage that left five children dead.
Barnes said Tuesday that investigators think they have almost all the facts in the November massacre, but have not discovered what motivated 36-year-old Mary Ann Holder to carry it out.
Authorities say Holder shot and killed her two sons and three other children, including an 8-year-old girl. Holder then turned the gun on herself.
Barnes says the same gun was used in all the killings. Holder also shot and wounded her married lover.
The sheriff says a few more test results are expected from the state Medical Examiner's Office, but doesn't expect them to make significant changes to the findings of the investigation.
