RALEIGH -- A mistake by the Associated Press caused quite a commotion in Raleigh Wednesday night when it reported state Rep. Thomas Wright's campaign had been suspended. That has not happened yet. Wright has failed to file another financial disclosure form and is in more trouble with the state Board of Elections. The board plans to discuss the situation at a meeting in Chapel Hill Thursday and may take action. A chorus of fellow democrats, from the governor on down, have called on Wright to resign. State Sen. Julia Boseman is among that group. Boseman said, "I think it's unfortunate for the people in his district that have had no representation this year and continue to have no representation. So I think the right thing for Thomas Wright to do is to step down." Wright is also the subject of a criminal investigation but has said little in his defense. So far he has refused to resign.
