Student arrested after ECU sorority house break-in

GREENVILLE, NC (WCTI) -- Police officers in Greenville arrested a 19-year-old they said broke into a sorority house.

ECU Police sent out an alert to students and faculty saying the suspect entered a house near the intersection of E. 5th St. and Rotary St. around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday by pushing in an unsecured door.

Police said Michael Ferguson, of 3555 E 10th St., entered the house through an unlocked door. The suspect was confronted by a resident and then ran away, the alert said. Ferguson is also listed in the East Carolina directory as a student at the university.

That house is the Delta Zeta sorority house. Officers found and arrested Ferguson around 6 a.m. He's been charged with first-degree attempted burglary and consuming alcohol underage.

Ferguson was placed under a $25,500 bond in Pitt County Detention Center.
