For the life of me, I can't figure out how we fail to understand that the separation of church and state is a GOOD thing. As we talk about the "founding fathers" a lot these days; as we look up at them with awe...let's remember that they created the separation of church and state for a reason and that reason is to PROTECT a person's right to worship as they see fit. It is the preservation of religion that they sought with this clever and then innovative notion. Otherwise, you run the risk of government imposed mandates when it comes to religion and churches. Again, it is BECAUSE we hold religion sacred, BECAUSE we want to protect it, BECAUSE we didn't want a repeat of what happened with the Church of England. Funny, the same folks who talk about less government all the time sure are quick to put government right in the middle of something that it has no business in...your religion.
