The amount of violence in down town Wilmington is troublesome.
My wife and I don't need to frequent late night bars to get that sense of uneasy in down town. We enjoy City Stage and a dinner on front street, we are rarely there after 11 pm. However what we encounter on the streets of Wilmington are some of the most scudzy looking people you can imagine.
They hang out everywhere, they run in the streets and you can just sense that trouble is all around you. In contrast we make several trips each year to New York City. We stay on 45th. near GCS and walk to the theaters and any where else for dinner. We are not the only ones out at night and we have never had a bad experience. I dislike the fact that one can feel safer on the streets of NY than in a small city like Wilmington.
