We had a case in Columbus County not very long ago where a corporate officer was prosecuted for illegal dumping of hog waste. CEOs and COOs are regularly indicted for environmental law violations.
The key is, it must be intentional. If you poisoned a town's water supply accidentally, you would not be indicted. You might get sued, but you wouldn't go to jail unless it was a clear violation of state or federal law on your part.
The EXACT same thing would apply to a corporation. If the corporation took actions that were known to be in violation of the law and the corporate officers had (or should have had) knowledge of those actions, every one of them could be indicted.
Absolutely not true!
