Group to discuss plans to help Greenville workers

GREENVILLE, NC (AP) -- A coalition that supports Greenville public works employees about their working conditions will discuss its plans to help the workers.

The Coalition in Support of Greenville City Workers is holding a news conference Wednesday at the Public Works Department. The coalition says little has changed since Nov. 9, 20111, when dozens of sanitation workers walked off the job to protest some policies.

Meanwhile, the Daily Reflector of Greenville reports that public workers director Wes Anderson is resigning effective Feb. 24. And the state NAACP is holding a public hearing Feb. 4 so public workers can talk about their work conditions and concerns.

Anderson has said he was determined to resolve the matter satisfactorily and convened at least three meetings of a committee comprised of managers and employees.
