WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police say the driver of the SUV that crashed into a tree Monday night was driving 85 mph through the neighborhood. The speed limit is 25 mph.

The WPD crash report says Raphael Samuel lost control when the car hit a speed hump near the intersection of Forest Hills Drive and Colonial Drive sending the SUV into a large tree at about 80 mph.

Samuel and two passengers died. Another passenger, Demond Jones, is still in the hospital. Police say no one in the car was wearing a seat belt.
