The world needs ditch diggers, too. If the poor little tykes come from homes where daddy is in prison and mom turns tricks to support her crack habit, that is unfortunately their destiny in life. If they are going to overcome that impediment, they should do it on their own and not expect the taxpayers to fund some sociological experiment of kissing hiney on the poor.
The engineers that put men on the moon and the doctors that perfected coronary bypasses all started out in Kindergarten. They didn't need "More at Four," "Head Start," or whatever you want to call this inner-city employment program.
