Raleigh forum focuses on change in black community

RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- Leaders in North Carolina's state capital and lawmakers are scheduled to address a forum designed to promote positive community change in the black community.

The forum scheduled for Saturday at Hope Charter School in Raleigh is focused on raising awareness about youth disconnection, racial stereotypes and the lack of dialogue about HIV.

One of the organizers for the meeting is Linda Riggins, program coordinator for Strengthening The Black Family. Riggins had her Raleigh home remodeled several years ago for the television series "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
