Racist slogans mark buildings across NC city

MONROE, NC (AP) -- Police in a small North Carolina city are searching for vandals who they believe spray-painted about two dozen buildings and a police cruiser, predominantly with racist graffiti.

Monroe police said the suspects caused thousands of dollars in damage this week by marking the buildings with swastikas, the phrase "white power" and "SWP," which stands for "supreme white power."

Police have released surveillance photos from a Walmart store that show show three men buying spray paint at about 2 a.m. Friday. Police said the paint was the same colors as those used in the vandalism.
