I only wish the media as a group would lift the lid on this story so that the full truth be told about how Titan has PAVED the way into our area with money. This is not about the only 160 or so jobs expected to be created. There has got to be more behind the decision to condemn Northern New Hanover County and Southern Pender County to become a "Cancer Corridor". The good ol' boy network of Wilmington has sold us all down the river and they act like they themselves will be unaffected..seems too easy and some huge ($$$$) part of this story is missing. The Air Quality Division testing area did NOT include the 421 Industrial Corridor. This State Agency selectively placed their testing sniffers only in the Holly Shelter Rd. Corridor. This would easily have provided a tilted result regarding the current New Hanover County combined output of pollutants. The Air Quality Division ONLY TESTED for SULPHUR DIOXIDE. This was a token test and they gave out a REAL permit to a plant that will spew MERCURY among other pollutants! We the people are just in the way. Titan has NO interest in the well being of our community. Bill Odom is a far more than a Carpet Bagger. The New Hanover County Commissioners who begged the EPA to let New Hanover County squeak past the status of already-too-polluted-for-more-industry with the promise of modifying the Sutton Plant with the delivery beyond the EPA status-setting deadline again PAVED the way for Titan to set up their “shop of horrors” for real. Maybe the Chamber of Commerce should start designing the new “Chernobyl-by-the-Sea” brochures touting cheap real estate, bustling hospitals and plenty of room for cemeteries in Northern New Hanover County because there wont be any housing, businesses or schools getting built anywhere near it.
