NC court rules in lawsuit over Miley Cyrus tickets

READ MORE:

RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- The state Court of Appeals says a website that allows people to sell event tickets is not responsible for a North Carolina couple's payment of almost three times the face value to see a Miley Cyrus concert.

A three-judge panel on Tuesday unanimously ruled in favor of Stubhub Inc., overturning a decision last year by a Guilford County judge.

Jeffrey and Lisa Hill of Greensboro paid nearly $670 for four tickets and fees to a Miley Cyrus show at the Greensboro Coliseum in 2007. The tickets had a face value of $56.

The couple said Stubhub violated a state law that made it illegal to sell a ticket for more than $3 over face value. The Appeals Court says Stubhub didn't sell the tickets or act as the seller's agent.
