Surprised? No. From the news accounts, this seemed the way it would go. Can't imagine what the little boy went through, and we will probably never know the whole story, but this mother will live the rest of her life knowing she left her son with a drug dealer and now her son is dead.
Nothing can touch the little boy, but sure hope the wheels of justice can do something with the criminal(s) involved. When it all comes down to the end, the mother was probably more involved than is known yet. If she is charged with anything, it should at least be negligence.
