Hoggard teacher assistant suspended after incident


WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) -- New Hanover County Schools has suspended a teacher assistant today at John T. Hoggard High School pending the outcome of an investigation.

An alleged incident occurred at the school this morning involving a teacher assistant. The teacher assistant, Joseph C. Brown, Jr., has been suspended with pay pending an investigation of the alleged incident by the district in conjunction with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Brown has been employed with NHCS since August 2006.

“While we cannot comment on the specifics of the allegations due to the laws regarding confidentiality of personnel records, we take this matter very seriously. Once the investigation is complete, we will take the appropriate measures in accordance with New Hanover County Schools’ employee disciplinary policies if warranted,” said Superintendent Dr. Tim Markley.
