You want a $25,000 per year teacher, or even higher paid principle of a school to decide whether he should physically HIT your child because of what he or she deems inappropriate!??? This is 2012. This is the United States of America, this isn't a third world country. This barbaric ritual should be been made illegal right after it began.
If you want to spank your child - YOU do it. It's not an educators job nor right or should it ever be.
North Carolina needs to get with the rest of the progressive nation and stop these back woods, country "go get a switch" mentality when it comes to childhood education.
We have some of the best higer education institutions in the country but our public k-12 schools are still pondering this crap? If it took Columbus County being "#2" for spankings, maybe they should start to dig a little deeper on the issue. Parenting?
Don't confuse tree huggers with corporal punishment
