Group against tax-funded ballpark halfway to petition goal

READ MORE:

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A group against using tax money to build a ballpark in Wilmington will take its petition campaign door-to-door.

The group says it has almost half of the 2,900 signatures needed to introduce an ordinance to Wilmington City Council. Council would then have to either approve the ordinance as is or submit it to a public referendum.

People interested in helping collect signatures can go to 4709 Oleander Dr., Wilmington Commercial Realty, at College Rd. Saturday at 11 a.m and every Saturday thereafter, until the required signatures are collected.

Additionally, copies of the petition can be found and signed every day at Wilmington Commercial Realty and Hardwire Tattoo downtown at Front St. and Princess St. It is also available online.
