It is our support system for the mentally ill that needs attention here, not this sad, misunderstood man. Fleet suffers from schizophrenia. When he is medicated, he is intelligent and well mannered. He comes from a wonderful, caring family who gave him a great childhood and wonderful education. He is brilliant. Unfortunately, like most schizophrenics, the disease has taken control of his life. There probably is no logical reason he attacked Dr. McKeithan. Why not do a story about ALL of the mentally ill in southeastern NC who have no where to go because of budget cuts by our lawmakers.
