FORT BRAGG (AP) -- Seven soldiers killed in a vehicle accident in Iraq that also claimed the lives of two detainees were members of the 82nd Airborne Division.

Military officials say the accident in western Baghdad also injured ten other soldiers from the North Carolina-based division and one additional detainee.

Major Tom Earnhardt is a spokesman for the 82nd Airborne based at Fort Bragg. He says the soldiers were members of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, also known as the Falcon Brigade.

Earnhardt says the accident is under investigation.

He says the truck was returning from a raid that took place late Sunday and early Monday when it "veered off an elevated highway" and fell about 30 feet.
