Lejeune Marine stabbed to death in DC; fellow Marine in custody


WASHINGTON, DC (WJLA) -- A Marine is dead and another Marine is in custody after a stabbing incident in SE early Saturday morning.

Capt. Jack Norton, spokesman for the Marine Barracks, says that between 2:30 and 2:45 a.m. guard Marines responded to an incident between two individuals on H Street SE outside the Marine Barracks.

They subdued one of them and he was turned over to DC police.

Police say the victim was suffering from multiple stab wounds and was in the 700 block of 8th Street SE. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as Philip Bushong, 23, who was based at Camp Lejeune.
