WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Hollywood East is buzzing as 'Iron Man 3' is set to fly in soon. Casting directors held an open casting call Saturday for project ‘Caged Heat.’

Hopefuls of every size, shape, age and ethnicity snaked around Independence Mall for the 'Caged Heat' casting call. Movie insiders say that's the code name for 'Iron Man 3,' and extra hopefuls could not be more excited.

"My favorite is when he fights because he is just an awesome guy,” little David Manzer said.

"This film is one I really, really want to be even close to,” Gloria Maggio said. “I love the 'Iron Man' franchise, and I thought it would be fun to come here. Especially to Wilmington because everything is booming here with the movie business, so it's so exciting."

"I just thought it would be a lot of fun, and I heard from a friend that they are looking for people of Chinese descent, and I am one-half Chinese,” Chris Lewis said. “I figured, what the heck? I'll give it a shot."

Some see extra work as just something, well, extra to do, but some make a living out of it. Extra experts say it's all about being yourself.

"Personality, facial expressions, I don't know,” Polly Giles said. “But if it works, I'm not going to break it."

Some haven't quite honed in on their best assets yet.

"Do you think you have any special skills?” I asked.

“No,” Manzer said.

“What do you think makes you a good candidate for this movie?”

“My love of being in action movies and stuff,” Manzer responded.

Mall officials say more than 2,000 people showed up for the casting call. 'Iron man 3' is set to begin filming this summer.
