WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) -- George Bryan is a determined man and this might be the most important week of his football life. This is NFL Draft week, and the former New Hanover Wildcat is working out around the clock in order to be in the best possible shape in case an NFL team calls his name. "I'm just anxious and ready to go, Bryan said. "I haven't been on a field in a while. I'm ready to hit somebody and play some football."

George Bryan already has his diploma from NC State. He's currently trying to get into the best possible shape, both mentally and physically. John Maynard and Eddie McPhatter train Bryan at the Champion Fitness School of Martial Arts in Wilmington. "It's an honor for someone like myself to train George along with Eddie McPhatter because George just has all the desire in the world, Maynard said. "The dig on George is his feet are a little slow and that he bends over at the waist and things like that, but he just needed a little bit of difference in his strength training, working on his foot work and here at the Champion Fitness School of Martial Arts you can't be a good fighter without having good foot work and you can't be a good football player without having good foot work. He's just come a long way. His strength has increased dramatically. When people see him now that haven't seen him in about two months they're going to be amazed."

Several NFL teams have expressed interest in the all-time leading tight end for NC State. For now, George Bryan has to play the waiting game. "I just want an opportunity to play football for some team to show those guys what I can do out on the field? What do you think you can bring to an NFL team? Toughness, I just want to play. I have the desire. I can do anything they ask me to do really. I can run, I can catch. The biggest thing I can do is I can get in there and move people out of the way."

The 2012 NFL Draft is a three day event. Round one of the draft will be held on April 26.
