Kitchen Cops: 09/06/07

READ MORE:

Last month Spiro's Breakfast and Lunch Wn wilmington scored a 72.5. Two week's later, another chance, but many similar problems, including foods at the wrong temperature, food stored the wrong way and cleaning needed. A 13-point improvement. But the 85.5 means Spiro's is still a Kitchen Cops low performer.

Last month the Waffle House on Whiteville Road in Shallotte was barely a low performer with a score of 87. A live roach and other issues including needed cleaning keep the improvements to a minimum a three-point bump to 90 for Waffle House in shallotte

Also in Shallotte a big improvement for Chili's. The restaurant scored an 80.5 on Aug. 10. Nearly three weeks later, a jump to 94.5.

The Isles Restaurant in Ocean Isle Beach made almost as big an improvement. In just 11 days, the Isles went from an 83.5 to 95.5.

Now to this week's low performers. Big Nell's Pit Stop in Ocean Isle Beach had a live roach and dead roaches. Several foods were stored at the wrong temperature. And several things need cleaning. 84 for Big Nell's Pit Stop.

Five local restaurants make up this week's Kitchen Cops high performers list.

The Reserve Club in Southport lost a half point because it needs to use approved storage shelves for chemicals instead of crates. But two points back for workers passing a food safety course makes the score a 101.5.

To Wilmington, and a perfect 100 for Domino's at 7224 Wrightsville Avenue.

The same perfect score for the Domino's on Castle Hayne Road.

Perfection as well for the Scotchman at 906 North 23rd street in Wilmington.

And all workers who prepare, handle and serve food at the Landing on South College Road need to wear effective hair restraints. A half-point off and a score of 99.5.
