RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- Policemen from across North Carolina are heading to the state capital to show off their motorcycle skills,compete for prizes and benefit Special Olympics.
The Raleigh Police Department is hosting the inaugural Motor Officer Skills Competition. The competition begins Wednesday and continues on Thursday. Tuesday was a practice day for participants.
It's an opportunity for motor officers to gather to exhibit and improve their skills through competition and a variety of skills courses. The event coincides with the start of Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.
Prizes will be awarded to participants who place first in each event and to the overall winner.
Proceeds from registrations and sponsorships will help Special Olympics of North Carolina.
