Brunswick Co. Sheriff moving north end substation

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office is moving its north end substation. Starting May 14, the substation will be at the Leland Fire/Rescue Station 5 on NC 133.

The Sheriff's Office has closed its substation in a strip mall at Brunswick Forest, which opened in 2010 for a nominal lease rate.

"The agreement was if they needed the place in 30 or 60 days or we wanted to leave in 30 or 60 days or the economy got better and they could rent it out, we would give each other notice," Maj. Keith Smith said. "I think they may have somebody that can lease it."

Anyone from the Leland, Winnabow area seeking a gun permit, police report or information should contact the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office in Bolivia at (910) 253-2777.

The new substation will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number will remain (910) 383-3352.
