Another principal resigns from Pender County schools

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- The Pender County school board will be searching for not one, but two new principals for the start of the 2012 school year.

On Monday, Pender High School principal Rob Spainhour resigned. School board member Karen Gonzales says she doesn't have any details as to why he is resigning.

"This came as a shock to us," Gonzales said.

The school board just renewed Spainhour's contract last year. This was his first year of the new four year deal. Spainhour had been at Pender High for a couple of years and was trying to turn around low test scores.

Spainhour's last day is July 1st.

Last week, Topsail High School principal Marcus Skipper resigned.

Gonzales says the search for his replacement went out statewide last week.
